Nua redefined

Nua is not a state that one can achieve by oneself at all - it is only possible to achieve when there is 2 or more person idling together. It is an evolution that arose from a few people getting together outside of work (but within working hours) to the state it is now - a gathering of folks regardless of employment status that mixes work (well - some do have to work) and news exchange!!

Let's be honest with ourselves - there are times at work when we'd take a longer break than necessary, shooting the breeze with colleagues. or just enjoying the coffee or tea. If you do this with your friends, you are officially nua'ing!

Do it well, and you will be able to get the most out of your nua sessions. The sky is the limit when you are nuaing. You could be getting the latest and greatest insider news on what happened within the company, you could learn a new skill from your nua partner(s).

To all the folks out there - Happy nua'ing!!

Nua'ing - Art of idling productively

Ah...The usual FIRST question - How did this all start out? Thanks to two wonderful ex-colleagues (who are still friends unfortunately) who started the idea of nua'ing after leaving their less than lucrative day jobs. Between now and the new chapters of their lives, what better time than just idle productively.

For the uninitiated, perhaps a simple definition of "nua".

It's a fukien/hokkien
dialect term that closely resembles 'bum', 'slacker' and the obvious 'lazy'. But there is more to nua'ing than just 'slacking' or 'bumming'. It about a physical change of state - from solid to a pasty like goo. Get the idea?

So...how do you equate nua'ing with productive idle?

There's still much work to be done even in a "nua" state. The skill is how to get it accomplished but remain in the perpetual gooey "nua" state. That's where the art of nua comes to play ;)

I'll have my fellow nua-sters provide their perspectives to the fruits of their idle pursuits....

Till then...first (and certainly not the last) nua'ing post.

PS : Incidentally...there's a deeper meaning to NUA too. It's Net Unrealized Appreciation. Go figure what it means .... :D
